Context : In Europe and so in France, the sewage systems exist in their modern shape since 19th century. Their initial functioning was based on an autoregulation of flows, assisted if needed by safety valves (storm-water overflows). The network was de facto passive in front of the pluviometric fluctuation. With the development of urbanization and the increase of impermeable surfaces, the flows of rainwaters passing in transit in networks considerably increased and cause an over-functioning of the security valves to the detriment of natural environment. An idea then appeared  to endow the networks of a dynamic functioning capable of compensating for the lacks due to the passive autoregulation. This dynamic functioning is obtained by  works of regulation piloted by a human agent or by an automaton. The piloting is made thanks to the acquisition of real time data and by the use of projected and/or decision-making processes.

Objective : To design tools allowing to make the best use of the data collected from the auto-surveillance and  to elaborate processes of optimized dynamic management . explicit optimization of complex problems possessing numerous variables (for example the genetic algorithms) and of black boxes (for example neurones networks). All these models have already been experimented individually within the research team and the development realizing the project, and their application in the domain of the urban hydrology was already tested.
